It was
Monday 28th
March.
The weather
forecast had
not been
good.
But against
all odds the
sun was warm
and just
shone all
day!
The show was
opened by
the Mayor of
Guildford,
Councillor
Keith
Taylor. who
had been
introduced
by Lion
President
Jim Dey.
The arena
events this
year
included the
Battling
Cumberland
Giants, 12
ft giant
wrestlers,
Mighty Mick
and Terrible
Ted, who
battled away
in a fast
moving,
action-packed
wrestling
match.
There was
also the
Portsmouth
Field Gun
Display Team
and the
formation
marching
Surrey Pipe
Band.
There was a
lot more to
entertain
the younger
visitor to
the show
including
donkey
rides,
bouncy
castles, a
fairground
and Punch
and Judy.
For the
older
visitor and
car
enthusiast
there was an
amazing
collection
of classic
cars ranging
from a Riley
mini of the
1960's to a
massive 6.5
litre
American
Ford
Thunderbird.
This year,
to celebrate
Lions
Awareness
Week,
the
Guildford
Lions Club
had erected
a Lions
Awareness
tent.
The displays
therein
illustrated
the work by
Lions
International
in raising
funds to
support
charities
and people
in need.
It also
illustrated
the support
that the
Guildford
Lions Club
is providing
to promote
Message in a
Bottle. |
