| More than
100 local elderly people were entertained by Guildford Lions Club at
a recent party held at Shalford Village Hall.
In addition to a light tea supplied
by the Lions and their partners (surprisingly known in the Club as
Lions Tamers!!), Surrey Police Choir sang a popular range of songs
with most of their audience joining it.
After a short break a small pride of
thespian Lions and friends presented a number of skits and songs
That were thoroughly enjoyed by all present.
The Mayor of Guildford Tamsy Baker
was also present for the afternoons entertainment and thanked the
Lions for all their hard work for the older generation in Guildford.
She said "As Mayor I have met many
groups around the town, but none work so hard and with such
commitment as the Lions Club, Our thanks to them for all their hard
work throughout the year."
Responding Lion Club President Keith
Hamblin thanked the Surrey Police Choir for their excellent
renditions of popular songs and to the Lions Strolling Players.
One lady in the audience suggested
the Lions Strolling Players should go on the West End, to which
one cynic added - "the West End of Baghdad!"
Another party for the elderly is due
to be held at the Riverside Centre in a few weeks time.
