Charity Ball 2007 raises £20,000 for Jigsaw School

Guildford Lions celebrated their 29th annual Charity Ball in great style at Wotton House, Dorking on the 24th March raising a fabulous £20,000 presented by Lion President Trevor Perry to Kate Grant, Executive Head and Rachel Turnbull, Chief Fundraiser both from the Jigsaw School in Guildford.

This years Ball was organised “in partnership” with the Jigsaw School who specialise in assisting children with autism. All the proceeds from the night will be used to purchase some high-tech playground equipment, which is used by the children as part of their daily educational programme.  Additionally, the funds will enable the school to secure the latest computers and specialist programmes to assist these wonderful children.

Rachel Turnbull, Chief  Fundraiser for school commented “ We were delighted to be involved in this project with Lions and raising £20,000 exceeded our highest expectations. We thank everyone in the Lions Club for their wonderful efforts and we are certain the children will substantially benefit from the proceeds”

The evening was a delightful occasion with nearly 200 guests enjoying the exquisite Wotton House with first class cuisine and musical entertainment from the excellent “Singing Waiters” and dancing to superb “Tamla Tigers”.  Fortunately the guests were in extremely good spirits contributing so generously to the auction and raffle.

Lions Karl Schmitt and Gerald Hunt , who jointly chaired this years Charity Ball committee were naturally delighted with the result and commented “ Jigsaw were such wonderful partners bringing so many guests to the Ball and providing many original auction and raffle prizes which helped so much to create a wonderful atmosphere on the night. We are now seeking a similar partner for next years Ball. If you are interested please do contact the Guildford Lions”
