Young Ambassador awarded £500 Guildford Lions has sponsored David Daborn, aged 15, as a Young Ambassador in a national annual competition run by Lions Clubs throughout GB and Ireland. David, who is a member of St John Ambulance in Guildford, had to make a five minute presentation about his activities in the community. In the regional final he came second against many other speakers some of whom were older. David was presented with a £500 bursary by Lion President John Fellows at a recent meeting of the Club and he plans to put the money towards a new defibrillator for use by St John Ambulance.
nternational award for Guildford Lion Past President of Guildford Lions Club Bill Blake has recently been awarded a Melvin Jones Fellowship, the most prestigious award that a member of Lions Clubs International can receive. Lion Bill (standing on right) has been a stalwart of Guildford Lions Club for many years and has held senior positions at regional, national and international level within the worldwide community of Lions.
I am absolutely delighted to receive this award which is a total surprise,” said Bill at a special presentation arranged at a recent convention of Lions Clubs. Lion John Fellows, Guildford Lions President said “This award is very deserved. Bill is a dedicated Lion and has worked very hard for Lions Clubs over many years.” |
