Guildford Lions Club
Environment and conservation
Currently we are involved in a
national spectacle reuse scheme organised by many Lions Clubs in the UK. Unwanted
spectacles (and hearing aids) can be taken to collection points at:
- Debra Charity Shop, Epsom Road, Merrow
- Nicklins Opticians, High Street,
Guildford
- Boots Opticians, Swan Lane, Guildford
- Specsavers, Friary Street, Guildford
- Emanuel Church, Shepards Lane, Guildford
Another collection bin is taken round
old peoples homes and similar establishments.

These spectacles are collected, sorted
and sent to France where they are graded and then sent on to Third World countries were
they are reused by people who would otherwise be unable to see properly.
About 400,000 spectacles are reused this way each year.More information
