1. Bognor Charter
Heather and I attended the Bognor
Charter at the Royal Norfolk Hotel. Our thanks to Brian
and Trish for providing transport and companionship.
The most surprising aspect of the evening was without
doubt the entertainment. We were all certainly
impressed by the spirit and agility of the ladies of the
Balandis-Lilley Ballet School for the Over 50’s!
2. Our Skiing Experience
Well Heather and I both survived
the trip to Santa Caterina, thankfully without damage.
I would like you to know that we progressed from the
starter’s Snow Ploughing to Parallel Skiing. Well, if
the skis weren’t exactly parallel, they got pretty
close. We hope to continue this improvement next year.
3. Business Meeting
Apologies that I had to miss the
March Business Meeting. Thanks, Chris, for standing in
the breach.
4. The Easter Show
Against all the odds of previous
years, we finally experienced truly bad weather. There
is absolutely no doubt that Trevor and his committee
worked their socks off to give us a great Easter Show,
and, but for that awful weather, I am sure the
attendance would have been good and the show a success.
My thanks to the organizing committee and all those
Lions who braved the weather to try and make the Show
the success it should have been.
5. Visit to Oakleaf Enterprises
Peter Coley organized for me to
visit the premises of the Oakleaf organization. For
those who are not aware, Oakleaf is a charity which
caters for people who have mental health needs. They
assist their clients to develop interpersonal, practical
and academic skills needed to rebuild their lives
socially and economically. Its patron is Penelope
Keith.
We saw upholstery being undertaken,
IT training and talked about their gardening equipment
needs. I came to the conclusion that it was a very
worthwhile organization that could very well merit our
Club support in due course.
